Important deadlines: All Forestry Radio Users

The Radio Spectrum Management Group (RSM) is responsible, on behalf of the NZ Government, for planning and managing the radio spectrum in NZ. RSM has instructed that all radio channel licences within the VHF and UHF band move from 'Wideband' ( 25 khz) to 'Narrowband' (12.5 khz) by the 1st of November 2015.
This means that if you are currently using a wideband frequency you will need to have it 'narrowbanded ' and all the radios using this frequency reprogrammed.
Most radios sold in the last 10 years are capable of operating in narrow band and will simply require a technician to reprogram them. Any older radios incapable of operating in narrow band will need to be replaced.
If you are currently operating on a frequency belonging to someone else then you will need to find out when that frequency is going to be changed and have your radios reprogrammed at that time.
ALCOM can advise you on any aspect of the narrow band change over.
