Narrow Banding 2015: Update

As you may know the radio spectrum is to be narrow-banded by November 2015. After this it will be an offence to run a wide-band channel.

What does this mean for you?

1. If you have your own wide-band channel you will need to apply to the Radio Spectrum Management Group (RSM) to change your licence.

2. You need to have your radios reprogrammed or replaced (if they cannot be narrow-banded).

We would encourage all radio users to start planning now to ensure come November you have a smooth transition with no interruption to essential radio communications for your business.

We can assist you with with changing your licence, reprogramming of your radios or supplying you with compliant replacement radios if necessary.

The following are radios we have identified CANNOT Be Narrow-Banded:

  • Motorola Radios

- M210
- GM300
- GM950
- GM950+
- P110
- GP300

  • Tait Radios

If you have any of the above radios or are unsure about anything to do with the narrow-banding process we are happy to assist you. Give us a call, email us or drop in to our office at 295 Te Ngae Road, Rotorua.
